U Finance provides leadership and accountability for short- and long-term financial planning, forecasting, analysis, management, and financial oversight of the University of Minnesota system, including any and all of the responsibilities and functions of the chief financial officer and treasurer.
Interim Vice President and Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer
Mike Volna, Associate Vice President and Controller, serves in the role of Interim Vice President and Chief Financial Officer beginning July 1, 2016. Mike was also elected by the Board of Regents as Interim Treasurer, also effective July 1, until a permanent Treasurer is elected. Mike has served as the University's controller for 16 years and worked with the previous VPCFO/Treasurer Richard H. "Fitz" Pfutzenreuter since 1997.
The University launched a search for a Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations on April 20. The Senior Vice President will serve as the University's chief financial officer, chief operating officer, and treasurer, and will work in partnership with the Executive Vice President and Provost Karen Hanson and other senior leaders to ensure that the University's finance, human resource, information technology, and university services align with and support the academic, research, and outreach mission of the University.
